Hello everyone, This week is about finding your centre in gravity or finding your line and then ultimately the flow state. This is about how coming into balance gives us the capacity to say I am. Structural Integration is directly tied to our sense of self and is crucial to our self identity. The architecture of connective tissue (fascia) is the morphological substrate for proprioception in the locomotor system. The flow state is an expression or manifestation of achieving structural integrity in this locomotor system.

With the slow but continuous erosion of structural and functional integrity as a whole, the body increasingly becomes disorganized relative to gravity. This leads to decreased body awareness in relationship to the environment, and functional efficiency can be compromised or impaired.

The body functions most efficiently when its segments (head, torso, pelvis, legs and feet) are organized allowing its central axis to align more closely to the gravitational vertical.

With this loss of organization comes disorientation and compromised self identity.

Mid lining, centring, coming into balance, is the essence, is the fundament of human locomotion. This is what makes us special, not our bipedality. The bipedality is not what we perform as a unique feature. It is in fact centring. We are the only beings that incorporate gravity. And for that you do not need a locomotor system, you need a biotensegrity system. So we are the only ones that centre the gravity centre of our body inside our body culture.

That means that we can come to ourselves. The mid line, the centre axis, if you maintain it, if you don’t lose it and fall back to horizon, you maintain an essential feature, an essential gesture, an essential mental capacity to be to yourself, to say, “I am”.

So for this reason our structural integrity is tied to our sense of self and is crucial to our self identity.

The Flow State

as it is to that supremely functional expression of our oneness and our connection to the universe, better know as the flow state.

The flow state can be described as that sense of fluidity between your body and mind, where you are totally absorbed by and deeply focused on something, beyond the point of distraction. Time feels like it has slowed down. Your senses are heightened. You are at one with the task at hand, as action and awareness sync to create an effortless momentum. Some people describe this feeling as being “in the zone.” This is the flow state and it’s accessible to everyone, whether you’re engaged in a physical activity, a creative pursuit, or even a simple day-to-day task.

A prerequisite to experiencing the flow state is the optimization of our fascia, more commonly known as connective tissue. it can be appreciated as the matrix substrate of our body or as ‘the fabric’ (the texture) “in which all organs are embroidered.

Fascia is also considered to be our most important sensory organ and plays a major role in the perception of posture and movement affecting our proprioception and coordination. The Architecture of Connective Tissue (fascia) is the functional (morphological) Substrate for Proprioception in the Locomotor System
